Cruciforms

CRUCIFORMS collects studio arrangements of found photographs into loose cruciform structures—compositions built on connection rather than narrative. Includes a supplementary text insert expanding on the concept.

I have been making the cruciform paintings for several years now. I initially began arranging images this way as a method of resisting linear storytelling—looking instead for recurring textures, postures, or suggestions of rhythm. A balance of imagery or a contrast. Each composition begins on the desk and is built by hand, using my archive as raw material.
